Arsenal '89 - Football Poster Print
Arsenal '89 - Football Poster Print
SP045
One of the most dramatic finishes to a football match and certainly a season. The top two teams met in the final match of the 1989 season with Liverpool in a strong enough position to even lose the game 1-0 to take the title on goal difference. With the 90 minutes up, that 1-0 deficit was exactly the scenario until, one minute into injury time a through ball from Lee Dixon found Michael Thomas who managed to slide the ball past Liverpool keeper Bruce Grobbelaar to make it 2-0 and seal the title.
Arsenal and Liverpool ended the season level on points and level on goal difference. Arsenal took the title on goals scored!
